STARTS - A Financial Education Class

STARTS (Support, Training and Assistance to Realize Tomorrow’s Success) is a financial education class for people living on no income or a very low income. We provide practical knowledge to help improve your standard of living right now, like information on comparison shopping, goal-setting and how to get the most out of community resources. We also help you prepare for having an income through speakers on benefits and finding work. Graduates receive an award worth $75.

Budget, Buy and Save

Budget, Buy and Save is for residents with a steady income. This class focuses on stretching your finances to make it through the month with less stress, goal-setting, spending and saving strategies, and ways to build or repair your credit. Graduates receive an incentive award worth up to $75.

IDA - a Matched Savings Program

REACH’s newest asset building program is an IDA matched savings program similar to our Youth$ave program. Your savings of up to $3,000 will be matched with $9,000, resulting in $12,000. You can use the savings towards buying your first home, starting or expanding a small business, or pursuing higher education or job training. Participants in the IDA program work closely with program staff to design and implement a realistic plan to achieve their goals.

Free Tax Preparation Site

REACH hosts a Free Tax Preparation Site on Saturdays from February 6th until April 10th in partnership with AARP and CASH Oregon. The site is open to residents and community members. Why pay to have your taxes done when you can have them prepared for free with volunteers trained by the IRS? Come to the Ritzdorf Court Apartments, 1225 SE Belmont, on one of these Saturdays and sign up on the waitlist from 8:30-10 am. The site is first-come, first-served. Trained volunteers will be on hand to complete your taxes by e-file.
