Volunteer Opportunities
Join a group of dedicated volunteers who are sharing their talents and making a difference in the community. First, read the volunteer positions being recruited for then, “Get Involved!”
REACH out to new people
Enjoy sun in the park and meet new people by staffing an information table for REACH. The Community Builders Program provides free home repairs to seniors and people with disabilities. Take part in this important work by representing REACH at the East Portland Expo Fair on Friday and Saturday July 16th & 17th. Responsibilities include providing information about the program to potential service recipients, and being an all-around friendly person.
Get Creative in the Kitchen
REACH Volunteers teach cooking classes in many of our buildings. Each class is different, and suited to the residents and the instructor. Many focus on budget and nutrition, but also feel like a family dinner. Regardless of your style, the class is a fun, educational way to bring people together to enjoy good food.
REACH buildings are located centrally, and classes generally involve 8-12 students. Minimum commitment is 3-6 hours once a month for 6 months.
Make it a day to remember
Walnut Park Apartments is completing renovations and will host an opening celebration on Thursday, June 17th. We need you to help make this event a success by helping to decorate, register guests, serve cake, and clean up. All shifts occur between 9:30am-1:30pm and take less than four hours.
Put your home repair skills to good use
The Community Builders provide important safety repairs for senior and disabled homeowners year-round. Donate your highly-needed trade skills to your community today! Licensed electricians, carpenters, roofers and plumbers are especially valuable. Scheduling is flexible.
Calling all Photographers
Summer will be upon us soon and with it a host of events that need to be documented. Show off your artistic talent by shooting an event. Events include Community Builders Workdays, Building Openings, and Fundraising Events. Photographers are also needed to document smaller activities like yoga classes and financial education.
